I haven’t been blogging for very long, and there are still many aspects of this that I have yet to figure out – like so many. It’s overwhelming to consider building a site (that someone wants to visit) from the ground up, and everything that goes with it. So it becomes convenient to hold back from creating anything by relying on the assumption that I wouldn’t know the first thing about how to solve problems – problems that may not ever happen. Clearly, it’s not possible to solve theoretical issues, test out creative ideas or actively write for a site I don’t have. I had to start somewhere and learn what I need to along the way.

Now that I have started, it has been exhilarating to see the modest page visits from people I don’t know and plot out what challenges to tackle next. I don’t have all the answers, but I have to try at least. That’s the attitude I’m applying to my latest blogging challenge: Blogtober. I learned about it a couple of weeks ago and decided, why not give it a try? Challenge accepted.

It’s hard enough to write a post about anything every day, but add international travel, a wedding, a road trip, and a sick child right at the start, and I’m already having doubts. However, there will always be excuses to stop. If this is something I’m going to do seriously, I need to dive headfirst into this challenge regardless of the obstacles. If I get through this month with a post a day, it will be that much more rewarding.

So, with that, here is my day one Blogtober post from New York. To anyone else getting in on the Blogtober fun: May the creativity flow freely and the inspiration appear around every corner! Now I’m off to get coffee and tend to the sick twin. Who am I kidding, they will both be sick in a day or so.
